Our Projects

At Infra Nepal, we are building more than just power plants — we are building a cleaner, stronger, and more self-reliant Nepal. Our hydropower projects reflect our long-term vision of delivering sustainable energy, fostering local development, and driving economic growth with integrity, innovation, and environmental responsibility.

Under Construction

Upper Kabeli Hydropower Project (28.1 MW)

Eastern Nepal | Run-of-the-River

The Upper Kabeli Hydropower Project is a 28.1-megawatt run-of-the-river project located in Eastern Nepal. Construction began in January 2024, following three years of rigorous groundwork — including feasibility studies, detailed engineering and geological assessments, environmental impact evaluations, and securing all necessary government licenses and power purchase agreements.

As of June 2025, the project is 60% complete and ahead of schedule. We are on track to commission the plant by October 1, 2026, three months earlier than originally planned.

Once operational, Upper Kabeli will generate an estimated 182 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually, significantly reducing Nepal's reliance on imported fossil fuels. The project is expected to offset around 150,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions each year — equivalent to removing over 30,000 gasoline-powered vehicles from the road or powering 3,000 U.S. homes for a full year.

The total investment for the project is NPR 5.69 billion (569 crore). Upon commissioning, the plant is projected to generate approximately NPR 1 billion in annual revenue.

This project is more than a source of energy — it is a catalyst for inclusive growth:

  • Thousands of direct and indirect jobs created
  • Strong emphasis on worker safety, labor rights, and local community development
  • Investments in site-level health, nutrition, and environmental protection

All core systems — project management, finance, and HR — have been fully digitized, enabling seamless coordination, quality control, and operational transparency. Upper Kabeli showcases our commitment to technical excellence, social impact, and environmental responsibility.

Tiplyang Kaligandaki Hydropower Project (86 MW)

Myagdi District, Gandaki Province | Run-of-the-River

The Tiplyang Kaligandaki Hydropower Project is an 86-megawatt run-of-the-river plant located along the Kali Gandaki River in Annapurna Rural Municipality, Myagdi District. The site is easily accessible from Kathmandu via the Pokhara–Beni–Tiplyang corridor, offering an ideal combination of topography, water flow, and logistics.

Initially designed for 58.77 MW, the project is being upgraded to 86 MW to maximize clean energy output. Once complete, it will deliver approximately 420 GWh annually into Nepal's national grid, connected via a new 220 kV transmission line spanning 12 kilometers.

Key Infrastructure Features:

Cascade-project

6 km headrace tunnel

Vertical surge shaft and high-pressure steel penstock

Underground powerhouse

Surface switchyard

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has been completed and approved by the Government of Nepal. As always, we are committed to:

  • Minimizing ecological disruption
  • Protecting local biodiversity
  • Engaging nearby communities transparently and respectfully

Tiplyang Kaligandaki reflects our ambition to scale up renewable energy in Nepal while respecting both nature and community.

Why Hydropower Matters

Nepal possesses an enormous hydropower potential, estimated at over 83,000 MW. Yet only a small fraction of this potential has been harnessed so far. By investing in state-of-the-art hydropower projects, we aim to not only generate sustainable energy but also drive socio-economic growth by creating jobs, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and modernizing the power grid.

  • Energy Security: Diversifying Nepal's energy mix and ensuring a stable supply of clean energy.
  • Economic Growth: Boosting local economies by generating employment and stimulating industrial development.
  • Environmental Impact: Reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-friendly energy solutions.

Future Prospects

Our portfolio is continuously evolving. Beyond our current hydropower investments, we are actively exploring opportunities in infrastructure, tourism, and agriculture. We believe that a diversified investment approach will not only drive sustainable growth in Nepal but also position us as a leading player in the region’s development.

With a focus on innovation, efficiency, and community empowerment, our future projects aim to transform the energy landscape, support national development goals, and generate significant long-term returns for our investors.
